Vetiver is a perennial plant that belongs to the Poaceae family and is native to India. “Ver” translates to roots in Tamil and “vetiver” stands for roots that are to be dugout. Many Tamil literary works written 2000 years ago mention vetiver as one of the ingredients to purify water for potability, apart from acting as a coolant. Vetiver helps in the stimulation of immunity and works as a sedative to the nervous system and it also stimulates the circulatory system.
